I am writing this review days before last service...a few weeks ago, a friend and I had a holiday dinner here, the last one... M. Wells was an institution. Fresh ingredients, a stellar menu, and the atmosphere was everything. My maple old fashioned was perfect. Each dish that was brought out was as good as the last. The service was always spectacular. Oh M. Wells, you will be missed.

Cuisine: 7 Service: 7 Decor: 8 Value: 6 Overall: 7 So this is goodbye. But hopefully not forever. Being one of the most creative and experimental restaurants in Queens, this institution has grabbed my attention ever since they started in their diner days. I still remember how my heart fluttered the first time I had their Bone Marrow w/ Escargot. Over the years, I had many more amazingly inventive dishes like Beef & Scallop Tartare w/ Yuba and Maine Cod Cheddar Cobbler, as well as insanely delicious bites such as Frog Legs Provencal, Bone Marrow Onion Soup, Secreto Iberico Pork, and much more. In my most recent visit, the Fig Tart Tatin w/ Foie Gras was outstanding. Though the Bavette w/ Shiitake Butter had to be reheated to insure the proper steak temperature, the flavor was finger licking good. With that said, that doesn't mean the restaurant never misses. I didn't like the Spanish Wedge Salad very much, and really wished that the Beef Short Rib French Onion Soup had more than two spoonfuls of liquid. Regardless of its imperfections, M. Wells will have a special place in the hearts of many Queens foodies for boldly doing what others would not. I for one will miss them for a nice local restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. Hopefully, we will see another iteration of this wonderful restaurant somewhere in Queens someday in the near future.

Decided to check this place out before it closed at the end of the month. We ordered the steak tartare, smoked salmon, bavette w/ shiitake butter, and poutine. Overall, we enjoyed the food. The bavette (steak) was well made, and the shiitake butter was a nice touch. The poutine, while pretty standard, was delicious too. I loved their cocktails as well, especially the Maple Old Fashioned. Service was okay -- it took a long time (at least 30 min) for even our appetizers to be served, and then another 30 min for our main course. The space itself was beautiful-- bigger than it looked from the outside, and very cozy and intimate with low lighting and whimsical vintage furnishings. In general, I'm personally not that enthusiastic about Quebecois cuisine, so I'm not sure I would come back for the food even though it was definitely high quality. I definitely would come back for the drinks and the vibe though for like a happy hour.

We came for the Happy Hour deal, which was a $1 drink with every order of oysters. A dozen oysters came out to be $48; this felt pricey to me, so I don't know if I would come back for the Happy Hour deal. We got a bit hungry so we ordered the homemade ravioli, and that was delicious. I'd come back as an infrequent splurge. I appreciate the community that the owners are trying to foster.

I'm so glad I was finally able to check out M.Wells last night since it's closing the end of this month. I don't know why it took me so long to go here since this place has been around for 10 years. Happy hour is until 7pm where you can get a drink for $1 with half a dozen oysters full price. The Spanish wedge salad was so delicious, definitely recommend ordering this starter. My friend ordered the mortadella mille-feuille, she enjoyed it, I thought it was ok but the presentation was beautiful. We shared the Montreal smoked meat ravioli and bavette steak with fries, both were very good but had to take home the leftovers to make room for dessert. The coconut cake was to die for and the skillet cookie was good too. The service was a little slow. The ambiance was nice and dimly lit. Gratuity is also added to your bill.

Was greeted upon arrival and went to the bar. Personable and welcoming bartender Patrick took care of me. Service was terrific. I ordered the steak tartare followed by the Montreal Smoked Meat ravioli. Both dishes were solid. The ravioli was just a touch underdone but the quality of the ingredients was evident and it was a tasty dish. Tbh I prefer toast points with my steak tartare as the matchsticks got a little unwieldy. Would like to try some of their more substantial meals, when I can afford to calorically. The room is well lit and all staff were working in cohesion.

Love love love this place. Do you get the picture. My description of their menu is exotic and edgy, and it always works. The owner is so sweet. Always checking customers are happy. The staff is exceptionally knowledgeable about food, and goes in to detail if you have never heard of an ingredient they are using in a dish. We came with a large group and decided to plate share. We started with the liver pate. It was to die for. We also had the cheese plate. Our main course were a few unbelievable flavorful choices. The ravioli, amazing! We had the Prime Rib, I must say the best I have ever had, and lastly the Venison which was prepared in a lovely blackberry sauce. Beyond delish. M Wells is known for a few things. Don't forget to place your online order for your Meat Pie!! This they are infamous for. You must bring one to your family for Thanksgiving. Lastly if you want a Maple Pie, enter it on the comment section of your meat pie order. Another famous outstanding delish M Wells famous pie.

4.5 stars - French restaurant that's been open a decade in LIC - yay! But I heard they were closing by year end - nooo! Say it ain't so. Run and try it before it is gone! (How did I not get here sooner) This was suggested by my dear friend and Yelper Mike S. We went there based on the rave reviews and the fabulous menu. The space is huge. Looked to be a converted garage turned restaurant. You can still see the double metal gates and what could have been the main auto body section where the dining room sits. The beautiful painted scarlet brick walls and wood furniture line the restaurant. Great for large groups too since it's so wide. Looks to have multiple dining spaces, it's very comfortably laid out. There's even ample outdoor seating, weather permitting, it's a nice intimate dining space. The wait staff were super friendly and attentive. They have a witty charm about them especially the one with the mustache. Menu was available via a QR code. All categories of this menu looked so enticing, it was hard to decide what to get in each. For starters: tomato tart tatin - a classic French dish. And boy was this spot on delish. A perfect balance of natural sweetness and some tart from the tomatoes and the greens with the almonds mixed in gave it texture. The light vinaigrette dressing was the best compliment to all of the ingredients. The other appetizer we picked was the mortadella Mille-Feuille. Traditionally mille feuille is used in desserts so I was so curious how this would taste. The mortadella was whipped into a mousse like consistency mixed with goat cheese - creamy and full bodied. It was a very fun concept. But this flavor pairing could be lost on some. I couldn't make out the sauce that was drizzled on top - herb olive oil of some kind. Paired with cornichons and pickles which I did not partake (but maybe I should've to see if it paired well when eaten together?)... For dinner: the Montreal Smoked Meat Ravioli was the dish that drew us to this place. Rave reviews by many and we now know why. It's very light, the ravioli itself. Didn't feel heavy. But totally filling given the smoked brisket and that herby butter sauce. They looked like mini wontons. We even ordered a baguette on the side just to soak up all that extra sauce. I kid you not! (The baguette was great on its own I might add). This is the dish to run here to try! You'll thank me later! We also ordered the burger des Reves (translates to burger of dreams). While the idea and taste was supposed to be fabulous - two patties with a sliced potato tucked in between, mushrooms, gruyere and foie all in one burger. This almost went unnoticed because we ate the ravioli first. I suggest you asking them to time the delivery of this dish. We ordered it together since we were sharing everything. There was so much flavor in that ravioli, I think it took away from the enjoyment of the burger. Don't get me wrong, that burger was still very good. I would recommend both entrees. Again, run... Before you're too late to try this place.

Stopped in for Brunch this afternoon. The staff was attentive and wonderful as they always are during dinner service. The vibe was excellent - tables are spaced out and no loud music which allows for conversation. Food was spectacular. I had the waffles and shrimp - my girlfriend had sausage egg and cheese on an English muffin. The shrimp was fried and had wonderful seasoning with a light drizzle of honey over the top. Highly recommend stopping by for lunch or dinner before they close at the end of the year.
